What are Paper Pot Planters

Farming FAQ

At Paper Pot Planter Australia, we are passionate about what we do and we want to pass our knowledge and skills on to you so you can start enjoying your own produce. Here are some of the most common questions (and answers) we receive in a convenient farming FAQ to help get you started.

How do paper pots impact the environment?

Designed for commercial and home vegetable and herb growing, Paper Pots are engineered to stand up to the harshest of conditions, without harming the environment.

How long until the paper begins to disintegrate?

Paper Pots are designed for commercial level crop growth. As such, the paper is made of resins which allow the pots to survive harsh weather, the transplanting process and more. The paper generally disintegrates after one season.

How long does it take to seed one flat?

This depends whether you are doing it by hand or with automatic seeders. Placing seeds into cells by hand takes longer than using our range of seamless seeding products. With seeders, things speed up drastically. We estimate that a typical 264 cell paper pot can be seeded in as little as 30 seconds or less (see if you can set your own personal best time!).

How do paper pots hold water?

Potting material holds water in the cells, as Paper Pot cells are open on the bottom. To ensure they hold water for as long as possible, use peat and compost based potting mix. You do not need to water Paper Pots any differently than conventional flats. But at the transplanting phase, the flats need to be closely monitored and watered more often.

How long are paper chain pots?

We sell three types of Paper Chain Pots. Each of these has 264 cells, with the spacing varying between the model of chain pot. Spacings 50, 100 and 150 mm. When unravelled, the total length of each chain is approximately 15, 27, and 40 metres respectively.

How many rows can fit in a 76 centimetre bed?

You can easily fit up to 5 rows in a 76 centimetre bed.
